INTRO
Tagging support is finally done! It was the largest change to the Ymir application since I started working on it. There are still a few things left to wrap the whole thing up, but it's already functional.
Tagging was also the last feature I needed for a partnership with another WordPress product. We had an unofficial kickoff last week. I'm hoping we can announce something before WordCamp Europe. But that's probably a stretch.
I had a bunch of meetings and follow-ups from WordCamp Asia. The meetings were good! Some were to kick off my first partnership and I think one might lead to a second partnership.
PRODUCT
You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog.
As I mentioned, I finished most of the work for supporting resource tagging. You can now add tags to your project configuration and all new deployments will tag all project resources. There are also some built-in Ymir tags as well.
This feature was a LOT of work. I think total I worked on 120 files and added 4,000 lines of code. Most of that code was for the test suite. This was very time consuming to do (some tests take 15 minutes to run), but my test suite lets me sleep at night š¤£
There are a few things left to do to wrap up tagging, but they're minor. I'm hoping to have it wrap up this cycle. The main thing left is tagging team resources retroactively and writing documentation on tagging. Right now, there's only a small section for the tags configuration option.
MARKETING
Lots of meetings, but not a lot of marketing output. I'm finding it hard to do marketing while in Tokyo right now. I think it's because I don't have a lot of systems to just make it more habitual to do marketing.
I'd like to think that meetings will lead to partnership opportunities. I know the ones last week did, even if I can't talk about it much yet. But it's a slow process and meetings aren't output.
It's definitely tricky to balance everything. You don't want to over-invest into a potential partnership that doesn't materialize.
BUSINESS

March is looking a bit better. Might be flat or up by 1 subscriber. Still slow, but there's some progress, I guess.
Still a bit worried about my finances. We'll see what happens next month. It'll depend on how fast that partnership comes online, and how much I can make per month from it.
Otherwise, I might have to take the foot of the gas a bit and shift more time to consulting again. Not looking forward to having to do that. But I have to remind myself that I'm running a marathon. So there's no point sprinting if I'm not near the finish line.
