INTRO
Greetings back from Canada!
I have largely focused these past two weeks on my consulting clients. I will probably do the same over the next two weeks.
Otherwise, WordPress 6.4 just came out. WordPress 6.4 now recommends PHP 8.1 and 8.2. I decided that this was the time to add PHP 8.2 support even if WordPress still says it's in beta support.
Business is going well this month still! But December isn't looking too hot. Always the š¢ with this š

As I mentioned, I only touched PHP 8.2 support this cycle. I started looking at the changes around logging. That said, it was a heavier lift than what I had time for with all the consulting work.
At this point, Ymir supports six PHP versions. (Seven with PHP 8.3 eventually!) I'm thinking about how I'll manage deprecations in the future. The good thing is I'm building the runtime against the Symfony LTS version and support ends at the end of 2025.
MARKETING
A few podcasts came out these past few weeks that involved Ymir.
ā
First, I recorded a podcast for WP Builds a few months ago. It finally came out last week! š„³ I discuss Ymir, serverless, building in public.
While I wasn't a guest on that one per se, we had a really good episode of Do the Woo DevChat. We had Ben Gabler from Rocket.net and Tom Fanelli from Conversio. We discussed the challenges of hosting WooCommerce sites and I had some insights on that as well. Probably one of the best episodes we did this year.

This month is looking really good. I had a lot of trials. It's looking like I might have a net gain of three subscribers. However, I have cancellations coming next month so that puts a dampen on how well things did this month.
On top of that, it's American Thanksgiving this week. This is usually the beginning of the slower period before the Christmas holidays. So I'm not expecting a lot of movement until January.

Although maybe you're already off if so, I hope you're enjoying yourself already! No holidays planned here. I don't plan on stopping at all unless my body gives out, which isn't out of the question 𤣠I've wrapped the logging changes I mentioned in the last report! It took a bit longer than I expected because I tackled some tech debt...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. INTRO It would be a great story if I told you that now that this deal with BuiltFast changed my fortunes overnight! I never expected it to. So we're back to our regularly scheduled programming! 𤣠The months of negotiations were quite draining for me. I've spent some time trying to rest. But I've also had to do a lot of consulting work since that's still what pays my...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. I licensed Ymir to a hosting company. These aren't words I would've ever expected to write a few months ago. It still doesn't feel real to me, if I'm honest. It doesn't matter that there's an actual press release. Or that there's a picture of me at CloudFest USA showing a new serverless ecosystem that didn't even exist two weeks ago. I keep thinking of the Hemingway...
