Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. INTRO Happy holidays in advance! Although maybe you're already off if so, I hope you're enjoying yourself already! No holidays planned here. I don't plan on stopping at all unless my body gives out, which isn't out of the question 𤣠I've wrapped the logging changes I mentioned in the last report! It took a bit longer than I expected because I tackled some tech debt at the same time. I also added a few more features as well. š I'm switching back to consulting work now for a few weeks. Still gotta pay those bills. š„² Switching away from Ymir always brings some sadness because I wish I didn't have to. But that's the nature of the game that I'm playing right now. PRODUCT You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog. Ymir now allows you to have access logs based on your CloudFront traffic. š„³ I've also created the new logging node that lets you have defaults for your entire environment. Here's how it looks like now: I've also done the same thing with the memory option. Like concurrency, you can set a default memory value for all your Lambda functions at the environment level. This lets you change all your memory values more easily and also keep your ymir.yml config file small. Keeping the ymir.yml config file small is something I'm obsessing over. I understand Ymir is a technical product, but there's no reason for it to be overwhelming. You should be able to have a ymir.yml file that's small and easy to understand. If you need to know the defaults, you can review the docs page. MARKETING I've been on a few podcasts since the last report. None of them are out yet. I've got some more scheduled in the new year. I also updated the reports and change log. I hadn't done it since august I think. It's not good that I waited so long. But I didn't have the energy to do it until now. I do plan to apply to WordCamp Europe with the new serverless talk I gave this fall. We'll see if it gets picked! I'm also still writing my year in review. It probably won't be out before February realistically. BUSINESS You can always view Ymir's up-to-date business metrics at ymirapp.com/open. They're updated every 10 minutes. Nothing new on the business side. No trials, no cancellations, nothing. š Carl |
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. INTRO This is the report I've been waiting to write for so long. Laravel support is finally here! I shipped the last part yesterday, which was the new CLI version. (You need version 2.1.0 to create a Laravel project.) This is an important milestone, but there's still work to do. The next phase is to migrate Ymir to Ymir. There's still some missing pieces for that to...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. On February 19th, 2021, I wrote the first Ymir report. I had in mind that I'd try to do a report on February 19th to celebrate the five-year milestone. As you can see, I wasn't able to do it. š The reason was that I wrapped up my gigantic 14,000 word year in review two days before. I was and still am quite drained from the endeavour. 2025 was an eventful year for me...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. INTRO I've been hard at work trying to wrap up Laravel support. I'm close enough that I can start talking about it and marketing it. (Yes, marketing! š¤£) I started a waitlist so that I can contact anyone who's interested when it's shipped in beta. My goal is to migrate Ymir in March if all goes well. PRODUCT You can always view the history of Ymir's product...
