Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iām building. INTRO Things have been moving a lot since the Jason podcast. I've been trying to maintain momentum since then. I'm grateful to AI because I'm juggling a lot of things right now. š I'd been working on a redesign for Ymir. That launched last week for the marketing site. I still have to do the blog and the documentation site. I'm still adding pages and fleshing things out. I'll talk more about it in the marketing section. I'm also trying to ramp up sales for Ymir for Agencies. I'm in talks with someone to help me. But so far, it's gone well enough as I've converted two customers to the agency plan. š„³ PRODUCT You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog. I soft-launched the temporary security credentials last week. There were also some bug fixes that were done. I'm still staying mostly hands-off the product right now while I focus on marketing and sales. MARKETING Ok, so new redesign! I'm really happy with how it turned out. I really wanted something solarpunk-ish. We ended up going in another direction because I couldn't get anything interesting while brainstorming with Astra. That said, we still managed to stay with the nature theme and green palette. šŖ“š The marketing site talks about two offerings. The main one, which is Ymir for Agencies. But I also wanted to make a dedicated page for hosting companies to talk about Vector. I'm still working out what the marketing site needs in terms of content. After my call selling Ymir for Agencies last week, I created a business continuity page. I'm sure other things will come up, but now that there's a clear design. It's easy to create these pages. šŖ BUSINESS You can always view Ymir's up-to-date business metrics at ymirapp.com/open. They're updated every 10 minutes. Lots of stuff on the business side! First, MRR is up a lot as I've raised prices even on legacy plans. I have one agency upgrade done. I'm working on another which asked for a transition period. That said, we'll be close to 3k MRR soon and over 3k when they're on the new price. I'm looking for help on the sales side. I've been in talks with a few people. Now that the agency plan is $12,000/year, I have a budget for sales. Considering how well my meeting went with the agencies, I'm thinking maybe this can work. š Last week, Laravel announced it was closing signups to Vapor. I tried to take advantage of it to offer a home to anyone who wanted to keep using something like it. It didn't go well. On Reddit, I got downvoted and mods removed my post. Ian Landsman on Mostly Technical keeps saying developers are the worst customers. It hit home that day when I'd had a call with an agency about Ymir's new price earlier in the day. I tweeted about it too, which got a lot of likes.
It makes me a bit sad because I always wanted devs to be my customers. That said, as I have these calls for Ymir for Agencies, I can see the truth of it. It's very similar to my consulting, where my high rate removes a lot of bad clients. Carl |
