Ymir Report #108 — New docs site, healthchecks, and more!

Heya friend!

Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building.

INTRO

A bit late with the report. It was Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday! 🦃 That said, it's been a busy two weeks!

The redesign work continues. I shipped the new Ymir documentation site. There's only the blog left to do.

I've also started working on the product again. I'm still in discussion around bringing in help with sales.

PRODUCT

You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog.

With the release of Opus 5.5 and 6.1 Sol, I've been ramping up my AI use significantly. These models are a huge step change I find, especially Opus 5.5. I have agents working on a few large projects. Some of the work they've done has shipped.

First, I shipped maintenance mode for environments. The CLI has two new commands to turn it on and off. When maintenance mode is on, the runtime will return a 503 page.

I also worked on a health check system. This is a part of a larger project to increase the resilience of the platform. I really want to prevent a deploy from bricking Ymir. But I'm building it as a feature that everyone can use and rely on.

Right now, I only shipped it for Laravel projects. Working on WordPress and Radicle support. Might not ship this week.

I'm also working on a larger project around observability. The goal is to have Ymir be a great platform for agents to work with. If there's an issue with a deployed application, agents should have everything they need to troubleshoot and diagnose things on their own.

MARKETING

The new docs site is up! Agents created beautiful illustrations for it. I talked about it a bit to promote the redesign.

The goal of the docs site is to be a great resource for agents. It even has an MCP if anyone wants to connect to it directly. I don't think it's necessary, but was trivial to add it, so I did. šŸ˜…

I also created a dedicated case studies page on the Ymir marketing site. Before it was just a link to the blog category. That's all gone now. I won't publish case studies on the blog anymore.

The next goal is to ship the blog redesign. With the case studies gone, I want to backfill content into it. For example, announcement posts for features that launched over the years.

I know everyone says SEO is dead as a channel. I still think it doesn't work to have more content out there. At worst, it's stuff for the models to train on.

BUSINESS

You can always view Ymir's up-to-date business metrics at ymirapp.com/open. They're updated every 10 minutes.

Nothing new on the business front. Still working on having someone help me with sales. But nothing to talk about yet.

I will say that the open page will probably disappear soon. It's not really useful anymore. I might create a stat page sharing interesting stats. But not sure yet.

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO Things have been moving a lot since the Jason podcast. I've been trying to maintain momentum since then. I'm grateful to AI because I'm juggling a lot of things right now. šŸ˜… I'd been working on a redesign for Ymir. That launched last week for the marketing site. I still have to do the blog and the documentation site. I'm still adding pages and fleshing things...

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress & PHP serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO A bit of a delay for this report. My dad was in the hospital last week, and I spent a lot of time there. Luckily, he's doing a lot better now. šŸ™ It did impact things. I didn't work on Ymir as much, even though it's the only thing I have going right now. That said, this created enough of a delay that the podcast I recorded with Jason Cohen is out now!...

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO Big update today! I recorded the podcast with Jason Cohen last week. (It's not out yet since there's a backlog.) It wasn't a pleasant experience, but we came out of the 3h session with a game plan! That game plan is: Ymir for Agencies The old pricing page is now gone. The $39/month plan is gone. I've removed all the self-serve ways to upgrade your plan. I'll...
