INTRO
I'm back in Japan for the next five weeks. (I got here last week.) If you're going to WordCamp Tokyo, I'll see you there!
So far, Japan has been very helpful in dealing with my burnout. This is a bit out of scope of this update, but I realized my burnout was probably an autistic burnout. (Something I didn't even know existed until a few weeks ago!) Being here has helped reduce the stressors that I feel triggered it.
On the Ymir side, I've been working on more things under the hood. I also created the agency partner page I wanted to create. Mindsize is my first agency partner 🥳
PRODUCT

Boring maintenance stuff on the Ymir side. I switched to using encrypted environment variables instead of secrets. This is something I'd like to add to Ymir as well. But as with all things WordPress, it's never that simple 🫠
MARKETING
I wanted to have all the Mindsize stuff done this cycle. And I did! I managed to get it all done. I got a testimonial from Patrick. I created an agency partners page.
BUSINESS

Still not out of the woods for churn. It's not as bad as last month. Probably losing one subscriber.
All the other stuff is moving slowly. I'm focusing on doing some consulting work right now.

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. Life is never short on irony. A few hours after I sent the last report saying how grateful I was for the partnership, I learned that Paul Carter, the CEO of BuiltFast, had died suddenly. I can't claim to have known Paul well. It hasn't even been a year since BuiltFast and I started negotiating our partnership. That said, I tend to be a good judge of character, and I...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO Slowly getting back into the groove of things. I'm not working as hard as before the burnout. I still have days where I work for an hour and that fries my brain. I still get the itch to work on the product though! So I've been just doing smaller chunks of work. That still lets me ship things like PostgreSQL support! PRODUCT You can always view the history of...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. This isn't the hundredth report I was planning to write. I wrote my previous report so sure I was close to the finish line of moving off Vapor. I was so happy that I'd nail the timing. The title wrote itself, "Ymir Report #100 — Ymir on Ymir". (That's a lot of "Ymir" in the same sentence! 🤣) But life is nothing but full of irony. The day after I sent that report, my...
