INTRO
Thank you to everyone who replied to the last report. It was really encouraging. I'll be working on some of the suggestions over time.
This cycle has felt a bit more normal. Good product development progress. Was hoping to get an article done during marketing week, but it kinda grew massive so it'll probably be out next cycle. Still managed to get some other stuff done!
PRODUCT
You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog.
The big item that was wrapped this week was bastion hosts. Wrapped up testing and wrote documentation for it as well.
The rest of the week was focused on the next big item: Redis cache. I managed to do most of it. In fact, it's unoffically launched already since the Ymir CLI was updated with commands for it.
But there's still some more polish to do, documentation to write and all that good stuff. I'm hoping to get a lot of it done this week.
Me and Julien are also going to try a new round of load testing. So stay tuned for the results!
MARKETING
Marketing week was a bit hit or miss this week. I really wanted to get an article out on serverless WordPress architecture on AWS Lambda. But it kinda grew out of hand so it's not done yet.
I did do some other smaller items. I added an archive of the reports I send you. I think these are part of the Ymir brand identity so I wanted a page for them.
I also got a great testimonial which I hope to be able to add to the home page. (Waiting for the person to confirm.) But I'd really like to have some social proof up there.
Otherwise, I tried something new and did a Q&A video. (Credit to Josh for the hilarious thumbnail lol)
I actually really enjoyed doing it. I'm hoping I can maybe do one once a month or something. I asked on Twitter for questions. But if you have questions you'd like me to answer, feel free to just reply to this email and I'll keep them for the next one.
I also applied to two conferences with a serverless PHP talk. I really like conferences as a marketing channel. I think they're a good way for me to reach out to people who might be interested. But with COVID, it'll be a while until I do conferences regularly again.
BUSINESS
You can always view Ymir's up-to-date business metrics at ymirapp.com/open. They're updated every 10 minutes.
Keeping it light with the business section this report. I've gotten two new customers so far this month. I have 3 cancellations. (2 happened already. 1 is later this month.) This would bring me at a net one loss currently.
But there's still half the month to go. So it's not over yet! My last few customer have been really excited with the product so that's always a good sign. :)
And that's it. Talk to you in two weeks!

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO Heya! It's been a little while since the last report. December was super busy and then I had some unfortunate events during the holiday and in January which delayed a lot of stuff. I'm still not done writing my year in review because of them 🫣😅 There's actually been quite a bit of work done on the product since the last update. The biggest new feature is PHP...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO I hope everyone in the USA had a great Thanksgiving! 🦃 Well, if October was busy, November was even more so! I had a lot of contract work. I was also lucky that some clients postponed some of it until this month or next year. One difference with October is that some of my consulting work was Ymir related! This allowed me to get some bug fixes in, as well as...
Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that I’m building. INTRO It's been a busy October for me on the consulting front. Lots of contracts and I have some new ones starting next month as well. I wish I had some time to dedicate to Ymir, but I have to prioritize that work. Especially since 2024 was a slower year for me and Ymir's business shrunk. I figured this was a good time to do some writing on the current WP...
